Salah Sadaoui est une figure incontournable de la chanson de l’exil maghrébine en France. Arrivé en France durant la guerre d’Algérie, Salah Sadaoui fait partie de cette génération d’artistes qui a chanté les affres de l’exil à la fois dans les bars algériens comme au sein des cabarets orientaux très prisés de la bonne société parisienne. Artiste pluriel, il a été à la fois musicien, auteur, compositeur, interprète et entrepreneur de spectacles. Il fut entre autre le directeur artistique des scopitones arabes et berbères qui composaient un catalogue de plus de 300 films en 16 millimètres mettant en scène des artistes de l’immigration maghrébine comme les stars du Moyen-Orient. Ces films étaient ensuite diffusés par le biais de machines scopitones, sorte de juke-box en images, à l’adresse des travailleurs immigrés qui fréquentaient les bars algériens, et qui, moyennant une pièce de 1 franc, pouvaient visionner leurs artistes préférés et rendaient leur exil moins douloureux.

Salah Sadaoui is an essential figure in North African exile song. Arriving on the mainland during the Algerian war, Salah Sadaoui is part of a certain generation of artists who sang of the torments of exile both in Algerian bars and at oriental cabarets beloved of Parisian high society. A multitalented artist, he was simultaneously a musician, author, composer, singer, and show producer. He was, among other things, artistic director for Arabic and Berber-language Scopitone tunes that created a catalogue of over 300 16-milimeter films highlighting artists from the North African immigrant community, as well as stars from the Middle East. These films were then shown through Scopitone machines, a sort of visual jukebox, to immigrant workers who frequented Algerian bars and who, for the price of one franc, could view their favorite artists and thus soften the blow of exile.

L'EP s'ouvre sur un nouveau classique de Rocé, "Tenir Debout", un morceau essentiel, actuel mais pas à la mode.
La face A (tenir debout - spectacle permanent - poings serrés) s'apprécie sans fin, le fond reste toujours aussi incisif et la forme se bonnifie avec le temps.
La face B (cpitxlistes - han solo - jingle bells) est plus inattendue, on sent l'expérimentation.
Le livret accompagnant le disque ajoute une vrai richesse au propos général.
